There is nothing as true or false, there is nothing as right or wrong, what might be right for you would be wrong for someone else.
We all live our life shaped by our own perceptions. These perceptions which we have acquired over time as a part of experience or perceptions which we have developed by others influence. We are born with zero perception of world, we are only encoded with survival skills – eat, reproduce, sleep, pain, fear, etc. We have no knowledge of what is wrong or what is right.
A lot of times these perceptions have lead to false beliefs. Questioning our thoughts from the first principle is the only solution to see & think clearly and not get disillusioned by perceptions. A first principle is information which can not be deduced from any other information.
Two of the most common cognitive pitfalls we humans have which shape our perceptions :
1. Availability bias – We tend to conclude or arrive at the decision using the firsthand knowledge we have. Example – The way humans use to believe that the earth is flat.
2. Confirmation bias – We tend to recall, focus or search for the information which confirm our thoughts, our decisions. We sub-consciously skip the other side of information which could contradict our thoughts.
